About Lessons

Infant Swimming Resource’s proprietary ISR Self-Rescue survival swimming program is a 6-7 week course, scheduled 5 days per week, for 10 minutes each day.

With a focus on safe, customized, one-on-one lessons by certified Instructors, ISR’s survival swimming lessons emphasize health, ongoing program evaluations and parent education to deliver the most effective and safest results in the industry.  Children may begin lessons as young as 6 months of age.

Children 6-12 Months:

Generally speaking, children ages 6 months to 1 year learn the ISR Self-Rescue skill of rolling onto their backs to float, rest and breathe. They learn to maintain this position until help arrives.

Children 1-6 Years Old:

Older, more mobile children will learn the full ISR Self-Rescue sequence of swimming until they need air, rotating onto the back to float, then rolling back over to continue swimming. ISR students are taught to repeat this sequence until they reach the safety of the steps, side of the pool, or the shoreline.

Scheduling your Lessons

We would enjoy the opportunity to speak with you about ISR lessons and to answer any questions that you may have. Please contact us via the 'Contact Us' link above to set up a time that is most convenient for you.
The following is an overview of the next steps to empowering your child with ISR’s Self-Rescue skills:

1.      We will send you an e-mail with dates and times available for the location you request.  Once we agree on a location and start date and time, we will email you a unique ISR Registration URL which will take you to ISR’s Registration Website.

2.      Complete the ISR Registration Process: The first time cost to register your child is $105* which is due when completing the online registration. Returning children for refresher lessons are $35.  The weekly tuition of $175 is paid directly to your Instructor in cash ONLY on the first day of each week.

3.      ISR and our scheduler will send a confirmation email once the registration process is completed. This e-mail will have your registration form as well as your gift code for the ISR Store (www.isrstore.com) which can be redeemed for $15 off your next purchase. Should your email server block our e-mail and you don’t receive it, these are all available on the ISR Registration site.

4.      We will contact you to confirm your lesson date and time once the registration process is completed.

Appreciation

I appreciate you taking the time to read all information provided so that you can be prepared for your child’s first day of lessons. I know that it’s a lot of information to take in, which allows Aqua Babies ISR and ISR to be the safest providers of survival swimming lessons. ISR and myself truly care that each child has a safe lesson every lesson.

As a parent myself, I believe in communicating everything clearly to my swim parents so that you have all your questions answered up front. Your child’s success in lessons is of utmost importance to me, and I thank you for entrusting me with the amazing opportunity to teach them to be competent and confident swimmers and floaters! I look forward to partnering with you in this endeavor!

PARENT INFORMATION

Why are lesson only 10 minutes long?

ISR lessons are taught 10 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for 6-7 weeks. The scheduling of this lesson sequence is based on many years of research, proving the teaching infants and young children in a one-on-one setting, in 10 minute increments, is the safest and most effective way to teach survival swimming.

As a parent, what information is available for me?

Your child is not the only one learning during ISR lessons. Parent education plays a large role in every ISR lesson; before, during and after. Each parent receives an ISR Parent Resource Book that details water safety for their home and family.

Tell me more about "BUDS".

Prior to each lesson, parents will have a discussion about BUDS ( bowel, urine, diet, sleep) discussion with their Instructor. The electronic form tracks the unique physiology of each child, including bowel movements, frequency of urination, diet and meal-times, and the duration of every sleep episode in a 24 hour period. The BUDS sheet provides a safe, efficient individualized lesson for each child.

Will my child be traumatized?

In no way will an ISR lesson be traumatic. ISR has collected data on more than 200,000 students, and constantly monitors the health of each child prior to and during lessons to maintain the highest of safety protocols and standards. We have had doctors, psychologists, nurses and other trained medical professionals trust ISR Instructors to teach their children survival swimming. It is completely normal for children to cry during the first few weeks of lessons even all the way up to the last week of lessons. This is a new skill being developed and crying is how they express themselves. We are trained to know the difference between crying and aggressive behavior.

Live Like Jake

ISR Instructors have a culture of giving back to our community and a passion to support the founder’s mission that “Not One More Child Drowns”.  ISR is dedicated to making sure no family is ever turned away based on financial reasons. The Live Like Jake Foundation is a huge supporter of our mission. Keri and Roarke Morrison created the Live Like Jake Foundation in honor of their son, Jake, who passed away as a result of a tragic drowning accident.  This foundation’s purpose is to create awareness of drowning prevention and provide survival swim lesson scholarships to those who cannot afford them, as well as provide financial and emotional support to families who have lost a loved one or have a child with critical care needs.

Whether you need financial assistance for lessons or if you have a desire to donate, please visit LiveLikeJake.com to find out more about their mission.
